It's debatable as to whether it has detrimental effects overall, but I find it to be a good barometer of a person's teamwork skills. In fact, I did draw upon my online gaming experiences to answer a personality test recently, and I found the results interesting.
Heh. Suggesting that online team gaming has benefits = priceless.
